MACIEJ CHOLEWA

(born in 1991) Creates installations, objects, video. Graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice. His work is based on his own literary texts. He focuses on topics related to the local community, peripheries and interpretation of cultural texts. He uses conscious confabulation and processing of stories and contexts he has heard.
He lives in a small town, which he treats as a laboratory and an important source of references and inspiration.

Finalist of competitions: Vordemberge-Gildewart Foundation Award, Talenty Trójki, Tide. Young Polish Art, Szara Kamienica Foundation Competition.
His works have been presented, among others, in: Kronika Centre for Contemporary Art, MOCAK in Krakow, TRAFO Center for Contemporary Art in Szczecin, Piktogram Gallery, BWA Bielsko Biała, Widna Gallery, Potencja Gallery, BWA Katowice, Labirynt Gallery, Jan Tarasin Art Gallery, Szara Kamienica Gallery, Szara Gallery, Jedna/DRUGA Gallery, Wozownia Gallery. In 2018 he was awarded a small towns scholarship (Tarnogórski County Scholarship). His works are in the OP ENHEIM / ABIS collection.
